Hey guys, it’s me, Charlie.
M.A. Applied Exercise Physiology, E-RYT, CSCS, ACSM- CEP
Whether you found me through social media, word of mouth, or google, welcome. I’m Charlie. At many points in my life I have felt lost, stuck or adrift. Over the years I have come to realize that the most important things that help lift me out of those doldrums are movement, community and seeking joy.
To give a bigger picture of my life story, I’ll start at the beginning. I was born in Whitefish, Montana, where I lived until I was 13. I grew up with a love of the outdoors and all it has to offer. My family eventually relocated to a suburb of Atlanta, where I learned just how big the world can be. From there I started college in Los Angeles. Two years under the palm trees left me feeling like I needed something more, so I left school and took a year off. I taught sailing in the British Virgin Islands. I backpacked through Australia and New Zealand. I ran out of money and moved in with my best friend’s mom and brother. I decided I wanted to pursue acting as a profession. After all those adventures, I moved to New York City to finish my degree.
I spent the next ten years in New York auditioning and hustling any number of side gigs. After a big dose of professional and personal heartbreak, I decided that I wanted to start teaching yoga. I completed my 200 hour teacher training in February 2017, and by that time acting had lost its luster. I quickly transitioned into being a full time yoga teacher and built a career I was proud of. Then March 2020 hit.
I lost my job. I gave up my apartment. I returned to Whitefish for what I thought would be 3 weeks, but extended to almost 3 years. I reconnected with nature. I built a community of old friends and new. I realized that as much as I loved teaching yoga, what I really am passionate about is helping people find their purpose. While the journey towards finding purpose can be windy and full of obstacles, as mine was, I think it can also be full of joy, humor, and unexpected happiness, even in the hard times.
In February of 2023 I made the decision to relocate to Denver. Since landing in Colorado, life has been a whirlwind of new friends, new jobs and new opportunities. I am loving every minute of exploring my new home, and I cannot wait to see what life has in store for me next!
